The Droid X

The Droid X is an Android based phone sold exclusively by Verizon Wireless. For the purposes of giving better detail to its abilities I will compare it to the iPhone 4 .
The Droid X is manufactured by Motorola and has gained a lot of fans during its time on the market. I won’t spend too much time on software because it uses the same Android software that all of the other Android based phones use.

Al-tough Verizon has done a great job of positioning it as the iPhone killer.
First off is the display the main selling feature of the droid x battery life is the 4.3 inch display vs the 3.5 inch display of the iPhone 4. The downside compared to an iPhone 4 is the resolution is only 480 x 854 vs 640 x960.

A larger screen with less resolution would look grainy if both phones were side by side with the same picture. It also boasts an 8 megapixel camera vs 5 megapixels on the iPhone 4. Both phones will do HD Video in 720p.

It uses CDMA 850 and 1900 MHZ which is widely used here in the U.S. What that means is the device in only capable of making and receiving calls in the U.S. and a few other countries vs. the AT&T iPhone which is capable of working anywhere in the world, the Verizon iPhone is a U.S phone just like the Droid X.

(Most people don’t need world phones but if you do the droid x battery life is not the one to buy.)Some other things it can do is you can use it as a WiFi hotspot although the Verizon iPhone 4 can do that as well. (Not available on AT&T at this time.)

It has 8 Gig of storage onboard and is expandable vs the iPhone 4 which you can purchase as an 16 Gig or a 32 Gig. It also has an FM radio built into it. The Android software that is used on the droid x battery life is more customizable than the iPhone 4, and it also has live widgets meaning that if you have the weather widget as a for instance you can tell what the temperature outside is without having to go beyond the home screen.

On iPhone 4 you need to click and open the widget to get the same information.
The Droid X is a very good phone with a lot of useful features. As I said in earlier post the best phone for you is the one that has the most things you like in it.

I like the iPhone 4 because of my experience with Apple products others like the Droid X because of greater flexibility. I say if you want something that works right iPhone is for you, if you want something that gives you the greatest control possible than the droid x battery life is the way to go.

There is no such thing as the perfect phone, there is a such thing as the best fit and when you are shopping for a phone that should be the thing that comes first.
